Le désamiantage des ruines de l’ancien hô-
tel du Galion est terminé et la démolition des
différents bâtiments a commencé le 5 sep-
tembre, pour se terminer vers la fin du mois.
Un réaménagement léger de ce site magnifique
est prévu par le Conservatoire du littoral, qui
souhaite consulter la population avant de définir
précisément le projet. Une première rencontre
a eu lieu avec le conseil de quartier de Quartier
d’Orléans et il a été décidé de mettre en place
une petite cellule de réflexion. Parallèlement, en
concertation avec le rectorat, un projet participatif
va concerner deux classes de Quartier d’Orléans,
qui vont pouvoir faire leurs propres propositions
d’aménagement. Julie Walker, représentante du
Conservatoire à Saint-Martin, a rencontré les
deux enseignants, qui vont mettre le projet en
place dès la rentrée de septembre 2016 et sur
tout le premier trimestre, l’un en CM1 et l’autre
au collège. Les élèves vont se familiariser avec
les différentes espèces présentes sur le site, ap-
profondir la notion d’écosystème et réfléchir à ce
qu’ils aimeraient voir sur le site : des plantations
certainement, ainsi qu’un espace de stationne-
ment pour les véhicules, mais peut-être aussi des
panneaux informatifs pour le grand public.

at Galion is complete.
The demolition of various
building began on September 5 and was comple-
ted by the end of the month. Initial restoration of
this magnificent site is planned by the Conserva-
toire du Littoral, which plans to consult the popu-
lation before deciding on the details for the ulti-
mate project here. A first meeting was held with
the French Quarter council, and it was decided
to set up a small think tank. At the same time, in
consultation with the school board, a project has
been set up with two French Quarter classes,
where the students will participate and make
their own suggestions for projects. Julie Wal-
ker, representative of the Conservatoire in Saint
Martin, met with the two teachers to prepare the
project for the students in September 2016. The
classes, one in elementary school, the other in
middle school, will work on the project in the first
months of the school year. The students will learn
about the various species that exist on the site,
deepen their understanding of the ecosystem,
and think about what they would like to see there:
the planting of vegetation, for sure, as well as a
parking lot for vehicles, and maybe informational
signage for the public at large.
