Les riverains ont la
parole à Babit Point
Comme prévu, le Conservatoire du littoral a
consulté les riverains du site de Babit Point,
à Oyster Pond,
afin de décider avec eux des
meilleures actions à lancer afin que ce magni-
fique site sauvage le reste, tout en invitant à la
promenade. Il a ainsi été décidé d’aménager
une petite zone d’accueil, agrémentée de pan-
neaux informatifs et de plantations d’essences
locales, comme le gaïac ou le
melocactus in-
tortus
. Un balisage du sentier est prévu, afin
d’éviter le piétinement. Il sera jalonné d’éti-
quettes botaniques et deux tables d’orientation
permettront une meilleure découverte des îles
environnantes. Les membres de l’Association
syndicale libre d’Oyster Pond (ASLOP) ont de-
mandé qu’un totem soit érigé en bonne place,
afin de donner une dimension artistique à ce
site poétique.
Locals speak up
at Babit Point
As planned, the Conservatoire du Littoral
consulted the local population at the site of
Babit Point, at Oyster Pond,
in order to de-
cide with them on the best actions to take so
that this magnificent nature site remain unde-
veloped but open to hikers. It was decided to
create a small welcome area with informational
signage and the planting of local species such
as gaïac trees and Turk’s head cactus. Markers
would be installed along the path to avoid ha-
ving people trample the vegetation. The path
will also feature botanic labels and two outlook
points with the names of neighboring islands
that can be seen. Members of the “Association
syndicale libre d’Oyster Pond” (ASLOP) have
requested that a totem pole be erected in a
good spot, to add an artistic dimension to this
poetic site.
