40 Réserve Naturelle SAINT MARTIN éserve aturelle I I Comme chaque année, la Réserve naturelle était bien présente à l’occasion du Sea Discovery Day, organisée par Métimer, l’association des profes- sionnels de la mer, le 27 novembre 2019. 230 jeunes parmi les moins favorisés de l’île, ont pu découvrir les joies de la navigation sur les ba- teaux des partenaires de l’association. Après le débarquement sur l’îlot de Tintamare, ces enfants ont pu s’adonner aux plaisirs de la baignade et des jeux aquatiques, mais ont également bénéfi- cié d’une promenade en compagnie de l’équipe de la Réserve, qui les a sensibilisés à la fragilité des écosystèmes. Action PA8 : Participer aux manifestations locales éserve aturelle I I éserve aturelle I I La Réserve au Sea Discovery Day… • As it is every year, the Réserve Naturelle took part in Sea Discovery Day, organized by Métim- er, the association of nautical professionals, on November 27, 2019. A total of 230 kids among the most disadvantaged on the island, were able to discover the joys of navigation aboard boats provided by sponsors of the association. After landing on the small island of Tintamare, these kids were able to enjoy swimming and aquatic games, as well as a long walk with the team from the Réserve, to teach them about the fragility of the ecosystems. Action PA8 : Participating in local events The Réserve at Sea Discovery Day… • Comme chaque année, la Réserve naturelle est in- tervenue auprès des organisateurs de la Heineken Regatta afin de les sensibiliser à la protection des mammifères marins au cours de cet évènement or- ganisé le premier week-end de mars. La Réserve est intervenue la veille du premier départ et a fait passer le même message lors du briefing de course. Dans le cadre du sanctuaire Agoa, avant chaque étape de la régate, la Réserve naturelle s’est as- surée que nul mammifère marin n’allait croiser la route de l’un des grands voiliers participant à cette course de renom. … Et sur la Heineken Regatta • Once again this year, the Réserve Naturelle worked with the organizers of the Heineken Regatta to help build awareness about the protection of marine mammals during this event that is held the first weekend in March. The Réserve intervened the day before the start of the regatta to share the same message at the race briefing. In connection with the Agoa sanctuary, before each race, the Réserve Na- turelle made sure that no marine mammal would cross the path of one of the large sailboats taking part in this renowned regatta. … And at the Heineken Regatta •
