32 Aude Berger - diplômée en sciences et tech- niques de la mer et titulaire d’une licence pro- fessionnelle en protection de l’environnement à l’UAG a été embauchée en janvier 2019 par la Réserve naturelle en tant que chef de projet LIFE BIODIV’OM. Sa mission va s’intéresser à la conservation du mérou de Nassau et du mérou géant, en gestion concertée. Cela signifie que les pêcheurs, mais aussi les usagers de la mer - pêcheurs, plongeurs, plaisanciers... - ainsi que les autorités locales seront consultées et au- ront l’opportunité de participer à l’élaboration d’une méthode de conservation. Une étude so- cio-économique a été lancée et des pêches et plongées exploratoires permettront de décrire le recrutement des jeunes mérous sur les petits fonds côtiers. Également, la sensibilisation des scolaires est au programme, tout comme le partage des ex- périences avec la communauté scientifique, grâce à leur mise en réseau. À noter : ce projet LIFE ren- du possible principalement par des financements européens (60%), mais également nationaux, est le premier dont Saint-Martin bénéficie. Du 9 au 11 janvier, Aude a pu rencontrer Delphine Mor- in, la coordinatrice du programme LIFE pour la LPO, en mission sur le terrain à Saint-Martin pour le lancement des actions. Puis, du 21 au 23 jan- vier, elle-même et Julien Chalifour, en charge du pôle scientifique de la Réserve, ont été formés par Florent Bignon et Awatef Abbiah à l’utilisation de TESSA, outil mis en place par la Commission eu- ropéenne pour mesurer les différents impacts in- fligés au milieu naturel et leurs conséquences sur les services qu’il rend gratuitement.
