22 Appelés par le CROSS Antilles Guyane le 15 févri- er vers 13h30, deux agents de la Réserve naturelle se sont portés au secours de deux plaisanciers en danger sur l’espace marin de la Réserve. Venant de la partie hollandaise en direction de Pinel à bord de leur cabin cruiser de 40 pieds équipé de deux puissants moteurs, les deux hommes à bord sont passés trop près du récif de Grandes Cayes et ont heurté la barrière de corail avant de se retrouver immobilisés et dans l’impossibilité de manœuvrer, avec une grosse voie d’eau dans la coque et les hélices tordues. Franck Roncuz- zi et Julien Chalifour se sont rendus sur les lieux à bord du Contender de la Réserve et ont réussi à remorquer le bateau jusqu’en baie de Cul-de- Sac. Le propriétaire, américain et âgé de 82 ans, a passé la nuit à bord afin d’éviter la naufrage de son bateau et l’a fait remorquer le lendemain ma- tin vers un chantier du lagon. Franck Roncuzzi and Julien Chalifour leapt to their aid aboard the Contender belonging to the Réserve and succeeded in towing the boat as far as the bay in Cul-de-Sac. The owner, an 82 year-old American, spent the night aboard to avoid hav- ing his boat sink, and had it towed the next day to a shipyard in the lagoon.
